History of  Boston United in the Community

The community programme at Boston United Football Club was created in 2004 and since then it has seen rapid expansion in recent years in both the sessions and variety of activities on offer, and the staff team.

The community programme, originally called Boston United Football in the Community was formed in September 2004, and was introduced as part of the football club’s development plan for the future. Their plan was to create a not-for-profit making organisation that offered a variety of safe and affordable sporting activities to local communities, which was managed by the Professional Footballers’ Association who controlled our bank accounts and finances up until November 2007.

Following Boston United’s relegation from the Football League in 2007, the Football in the Community scheme became a Company Limited by Guarantee. From then on, the community programme was renamed as Boston United Football in the Community Ltd, and traded under the name of Boston United in the Community (UITC).

The community programme has remained a not-for-profit making organisation and is viewed by Boston United Football Club’s Directors as a vital part of the Club’s plans to expand their programmes.

Who We Are

United in the Community’s role within Boston and Lincolnshire is to use the popularity of the Boston United brand to improve the lives of people in Lincolnshire through participation in sport.
