Pilgrims Goalz Youth Club
Since receiving over £98,000 funding from Children in Need, Boston United in the Community have been able to create Pilgrims Goalz Youth Club, a youth night offering a safe environment for young people in Boston three nights a week at Focus One.
We launched the three year Pilgrims Goalz Youth Club in February 2015, thanks to funding from Children in Need. The project received over £98,000 over 3 years, which has been used to create Pilgrim Goalz for young people at Focus One Youth Centre on Mill Road in Boston.
The main aim of the project is to deliver youth nights for 11 to 17 year olds to help increase physical activities outside of school time and to provide a safe place to socialise with their peers.
The sessions run every week from 6pm to 8pm on Monday, Thursday and Friday evenings and cost £1 a session.
Two of the youth nights will be focused on taking part in various activities such as table tennis, pool, XBOX and music, games and having fun, and a variety of sports such as:
- PLUS match nights and tournaments
The other session will be focused on helping young people achieve life long skills such as:
- cooking classes
- working to reduce crime and anti social behaviour
- drug and alcohol awareness
- sexual health.
There will also be opportunities to obtain leadership qualifications and receive support to improve their education and skills, and to participate in fun workshops like DJ skills and arts & crafts. Young people can also get the opportunity to boost their CV and help volunteer with us.
We will also offer holiday clubs at the youth centre during school holidays and give young people the opportunity to partake in fun days to places like Alton Towers and bowling.
