Boston United Youth Development Squads
The Youth Development Squads currently play in The National Youth Alliance Division and are led by Head of Youth Martyn Bunce and first team manager Adam Murray. They also compete in the prestigious FA Youth Cup, alongside the Youth Alliance League Cup and the Midland Youth Cup. The Youth Team enjoyed their best-ever FA Youth Cup run in 2011-2012, winning six matches en route to a third round encounter at The Jakemans Stadium against Championship side Burnley. They also won their Division H league in the 2016/17 season, the first time in Pilgrims history!
The team is made up primarily of youngsters enrolled on our education courses at The Jakemans Stadium, and a select few other players who are in full-time education at other local schools and colleges.
The Youth Development Squad is also fed by the club’s long-running Centre of Excellence and strives to provide the best quality footballers in the local area to ultimately play for the first team in Vanarama National League North.
Thirty youngsters, from 2004 onwards, have gone one to make at least one competitive first team appearance in league or cup action. The 2016/17 season also saw the signing of student and youth player Harry Vince to the first team – his first professional football contract. Harry also went on to represent England C Team. Since then, Harry Vince has resigned for the 2017/18 season along with fellow students Harry Payne and Liam Adams.
